commit

My One Word for 2016 is commit.  My plan was to commit to taking better care of myself, to commit to daily devotional time, to commit to teaching my puppy to be a better puppy and to commit to working on my writing project.  Where am I after 9 months have passed?  Not in the place I had hoped to be.

I am the one who will shout from the rooftops that “God loves you just the way you are, right in this moment!”  I believe it…but for everyone else.  I can encourage the best, but not myself very often.  Last week a co-worker called me to see if I was doing okay and before the call was over she realized I had made her feel better and she had called to check on me!

Being blessed with the gift of encouragement is a wonderful thing.  I love helping people work through issues of all kinds and am pretty good in a brainstorming session, I just wish I could do the same for myself.

Don’t we all do that from time to time?  We dish out great advice and “think” we know what is best for others, but when we have to fix things in our own backyard, it is quite a bit harder to do.  My husband will say, “Cazandra, you have to give yourself some grace.”  It’s true.  If we all gave ourselves a little bit (or a lot) of grace we may figure out some things to make our lives better.

I only have three months left and I am going to “commit” to letting some grace come into my life.

Today I Am Thankful For:

  1. Communion
  2. Rain
  3. Connecting the dots
  4. Soup
  5. projects
