About Me
Cazandra “Caz” Campos-MacDonald, is a woman who is called to spread the light of hope and encouragement wherever she goes.
From the hundreds of children she taught to play band instruments, the people she advocates for in the world of bleeding disorders, and in ministering to the dying as a hospice chaplain, Cazandra’s true calling is to be the voice of hope to those who find themselves in their darkest of times.
Cazandra’s passion for writing began out of loneliness in 2006 when she and her family moved to the mountains of New Mexico. She began writing a blog and has written over 800 posts over the years on her blogs about life and faith and raising her sons with hemophilia. She has been a contributor to The Mighty, Scary Mommy, Global Genes, and The Hemophilia Federation of America’s Infusing Love blog. Cazandra is a columnist for Hemophilia News Today, wrote a monthly column on faith for the The Sentinel, and is also a regular writer for LA Kelley Communications.
Cazandra graduated from Galena Park High School in Galena Park, Texas where she describes her high school years as some of the best of her life. She attended Houston Baptist University and earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree and taught band for over 13 years before changing careers and working in the healthcare industry. Cazandra is a graduate of Iliff Theological Seminary earning a Master of Divinity degree and is a Provisional Deacon on track for ordination in the United Methodist Church. She currently serves as a hospice chaplain.
Along with her writing, Cazandra actively travels the country speaking to those with rare diseases and chronic illnesses. Sharing her stories of raising sons with hemophilia and inhibitors is a way for her to have the journey redeemed. She is passionate about listening to others and giving encouragement.
Cazandra is a lover of 80’s music, freshly sharpened pencils, has an unhealthy addiction to spiral notebooks, and loves anything leopard. Where is she happiest? Riding horses in the hills of New Mexico, buying fabric for a new quilting project and most especially in the kitchen cooking for her men! They insist her homemade salsa and Spanish rice are made regularly.
Nothing makes her happier than having her family together, feeding them and laughing until their sides hurt. She has been married to the Rev. Dr. Joe MacDonald for over 30 years and they have two sons, Julian (27) and Caeleb (17).
