Life is funny. You make plans, and then after some time goes by, you realize that was a big mistake. Your plans may not turn out the way you expected. I had always wanted to have at least two children and when Joe and I decided it was time to start our family, Julian was here before we knew it. But after a couple of years, we wanted to add to our family and it just wasn’t as easy the second time around. I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, was on injections and medications and even took part in a clinical trial. After several years of that craziness, we decided to stop. It just wasn’t in the cards. We thought that God’s plan was for us to love and adore our one son and Joe and I had to come to grips with that reality. Even after the doctors told me that a second child was just not going to happen, it happened! I was pregnant, ten years after Julian. The baby I was never supposed to conceive was on his way. It was his time.

Today, that baby boy turns 12. My mighty, warrior Caeleb is 12. Sometimes I wonder what life would have been like if had never come into our lives. One thing is for sure, it would have been boring. My Caeleb is a vivacious, social little boy with a goofy sense of humor. He plays piano and trumpet, is an artist and can build anything you could imagine out of Legos. He is a compassionate little soul who has seen more than his share of pain. He has endured some of the absolute worst that hemophilia and inhibitors can do to a person’s body, yet he is the kind of kid that sees the best in everything.

I absolutely adore my mighty, warrior. I have no idea what his life is going to look like, but I can bet it will be pretty amazing. He is here for an incredible purpose and I am just glad I am along for the ride.

Happy birthday, Caeleb.
