I have always loved to create. Most especially musically, but over the years I have fallen in love with scrapbooking. I recently met a friend of a friend who teaches classes and hosts workshops for scrapping and card making. I found myself sitting at a table with new friends, working on a project, utterly happy. I wasn’t worried about deadlines or laundry, just about creating.
There is something about creating from scratch. A recipe, crocheting a blanket, painting a picture, or playing a sonata. I love the feel of paper in my hands. Tying a ribbon, gluing small decorative pieces, arranging photos and stamping sentiments…it is something that takes my mind away to a place that I don’t visit very often. It’s a medium that allows me to express myself differently than I do during the week. Spreadsheets and conference calls are not my most favorite tasks of my working hours, but when I have something else to look forward to it makes everything else okay.
I imagine what God must have thought when he created man and woman. He must have looked at each creation and marveled at the color of their hair and eyes; the softness of their skin and ability to problem solve. Man and woman were truly God’s greatest creations. I wonder what hopes and dreams He had for creation?
The thought to design, strength to build and craftiness to finish buildings.
- The desire to create things beautiful for the sake of enjoyment.
- The talents to make music.
- To travel to space and discover new worlds.
- To travel next door to help a neighbor.
One thing I know for sure is that God doesn’t mess up and each of us is meant to be here.
You are amazing.
