Isn’t it nice to hear people say, “Great job! I loved your message! You have such a gift. You do great work.”
Sure it is!
But then the other side of that is when you hear, “I didn’t understand your message. Your work was not quite up to par. It was okay, but…..”
What truths are you going to believe?
The words that made you doubt.
It’s never great to only focus on the wonderful things people say about your work because then you won’t have room to grow and get better. But when you do hear the naysayers it can be painful and completely throw you off track. It takes time to let the yuck set in and take it for what it is.
I felt like the pastor was preaching right to me today. Mark 6:11 says, “And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, leave that place and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.”
Hearing that passage today made me envision the disciples taking off their dusty sandals, shaking off the dust. Not just because it was all in between their toes, but as a symbol that those who are here do not believe in our Good News and on we must go.
Amen!
I am trying my best to dust off my sandals and move forward because no matter where I am in the world….especially the secular part of my world, I am going to let Christ shine through me without the non-believers even having a clue what is staring them in the face.
