I was driving home from the office today much later than usual, stuck in quite a bit of traffic (nothing like Houston traffic) and put in a CD I had put together years ago. It was filled with worship music. Music I had not listened to in a very long time.
Two beautiful women came to mind as I was listening…Amy and Traci….my “sisters” from Holy Covenant back in Katy, Texas. When my husband was music director at Holy Covenant, our family was blessed beyond measure. I joined the Praise Band and had the wonderful experience of singing with Amy, Traci and “the guys” every week. I completely stepped out of my comfort zone by singing in the Praise Band and I loved every minute of it.
Whenever Amy opened her mouth, I know that Jesus smiled. To hear her sing “Knees to the Earth” was one of the most worshipful experiences I have ever had. I honestly can hardly listen to anyone sing praise and worship music because I have Amy in my head and my heart.
And then there is Traci, my dear friend. We both found out we were expecting our “surprise” children within days of each other and I am sure seeing us both big and pregnant sitting on stools singing praise and worship every Sunday was a sight to see đŸ™‚ I still hear her harmonies in my head.
They are the kind of women you want on your side praying for you….truly amazing Christian women. I am blessed to know them and have spent time worshipping with them.
I sang on the way home like I’ve not sung in years and all of the wonderful memories of singing with “the girls” was almost too much.
