vulnerable

I used to think that being vulnerable meant you were weak.  Maybe there is some truth to that in certain circumstances but I am learning that in order to change and to grow as a person, I have to put myself out there and it can sure be scary.

“What if they don’t agree with me?”

“What if my answer is wrong?”

“What if I screw up?”

That land of “What If?” is a terrible place and if we live there too long, then we will never grow and become the whole, complete person that God has intended.

I definitely don ‘t consider myself a risk taker.  When I think of risk I imagine someone diving off a cliff or parasailing.  You won’t find me doing either of those things.  But isn’t standing in front of a group of people sharing your faith a risk?

Believe it or not we take risks every day.  They are not necessarily huge feats but think about it for a minute.

We get in our cars to run errands.

We go to jobs and perform work that takes thought (that not everyone will agree with).

We apply for jobs, scholarships, promotions, etc.

All of those things can have great outcomes or devastating ones.  But we put ourselves out there to give it a try because if we don’t, then we will never know what could have been.

Today I Am Thankful For:

  1. taking risks
  2. walks to the park
  3. My dog, Betty, who is my buddy during the work day
  4. dental floss
  5. taking care of myself
