unapproachable light

Have you ever been doing something and all of a sudden you have a warmth come over you? It’s like goose bumps covering your body.

When that happens to me it is a sign to me that I am doing what I am supposed to be doing. I am doing what God intended for me to with my life, at that particular moment.

It’s not always something huge or life changing, it’s just living the moment and spreading truth in the way you were designed to speak truth.

I delivered a sermon today on 1 Timothy 6:11-16 and there were several things that I learned from this passage of scripture. One piece struck me significantly.

“…to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which God will bring about in his own time—God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen.” 1 Timothy 6:14-16 (NIV)

Unapproachable light.

I can imagine sitting at the feet of Jesus, listening, soaking in every word with the hair on the back of my neck standing up as I inch closer and closer. The light shining from his presence begins to engulf me and cover every part of my being. It’s at that moment when I enter into that “unapproachable light” that nothing hurts me physically. The losses I have encountered are a distant memory and the only thing that matters is that I am in relationship with Christ.

I believe that I will sit at the feet of Christ one day. And until that day comes I will try to live every breath pleasing to Christ. Not just for myself, but so that others may see the love He has for everyone. Sometimes the smallest gesture to a stranger who may simply pass through your life for a moment can plant a seed for that person to experience the love of Christ in a way they never dreamed.

Light…all encompassing light. I want to be overpowered by that light and I want it to ooze from my being every day.
