I loved high school. I had some amazing friends and memories that will last a lifetime. The only thing that seemed to be missing was that I never had a boyfriend. I wanted to have a special someone love me and I lived vicariously through some of my girlfriends. I was afraid I would never experience that kind of love. My friend Karen told me that when I did meet someone it would be “the one.” Boy was she right.
In college I met this musician. He was a hot mess! But there was something about him that was different than any other man I had known. He was “the one” and after four years of dating and breaking up and dating and breaking up and dating….we were married.
On December 19, 1992 I said yes to Joe Keith MacDonald and my life has been quite a whirlwind. We have had some great times and some pretty yucky times but our relationship is stronger than it has ever been. We are raising two sons, following our hearts in Joe’s call to ministry and we are madly in love. He supports me in all of my ventures and even when he sees me heading down a road that will create heartache, he never says “I told you so.”
I have no idea where our lives will take us, but I am sure glad that he is the one whose hand I will hold forever.
I love you, Joe Keith MacDonald.
