“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:11-13 (NIV)
I truly believe Jeremiah 29:11. There are plans for each of us that God has in store and the hard part is that we have to stop for a moment to listen…to feel the nudge…to hear God speak to our hearts that helps us know which way to go.
But the part of the scripture that is often overlooked are verses 12 and 13. “Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.” God is not telling us that He will only listen if He has time, He wants us to call on Him and pray to Him. He always is listening.
I don’t know about you but sometimes the people closest to me don’t always “listen”. But what I do know is that when I am in conversation with myself that God is with me.
Verse 13 reads “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” That is what it is all about! Are we seeking God with our whole heart? Are we seeking God just on Sunday mornings or by working on a daily relationship through prayer?
Prayer is not just about kneeling down and clasping your hands a certain way…it’s about a conversation, an intimate relationship that needs constant nurturing. One of the things I am working on passionately right now is to be more intentional in my time with Christ.
How is your relationship with Christ? He’s waiting on us everyday to stop for a moment. He wants to hear from each of us…not just when we are in need but during the good times as well.
It’s never too late to work on your prayer life, your devotional time, your time that is intentionally being spent with God. There’s no rule to how long it needs to be….He just wants us to show up.
