I had the honor of speaking at a retreat in my home church this past weekend and was so incredibly blessed.  It was an amazing experience.  I worked with a team of three other ladies to plan a first annual event.

When you plan an event of this magnitude there are details that must be given attention.  And I love when I work with people who don’t mind getting their hands dirty….people who will think about the comfort of the ones attending….wanting to meet their needs.  Not just physical needs, but spiritual ones as well.

And when a heart does ministry for all of the right reasons, God never fails to show up.

As a pastor’s wife I see a lot of ugly things that many people don’t realize go on in the workings of the church.  But when I see and am surrounded by people doing ministry with a giving hear, I am overcome with gratitude.

It’s not about who sees you working for the Lord…it’s not about being “recognized” for ministry….it’s about serving because you are being led to serve God no matter what the task.

Having a heart to serve is a gift.  Let’s all make sure that the reason we serve is truly for the glory of God.

“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.”  Matthew 6:5 (NIV)

Today I Am Thankful For:

  1. cool fronts despite the wind
  2. having a friend/colleague to my home for dinner
  3. animal crackers
  4. a Law and Order Sunday afternoon marathon
  5. prayer beads
