It has been three months since the beginning of 2015. Three months have gone by in a flash! As I sat in our Easter services at church this morning, I realized that I could feel sorry for myself that I have let three, precious months go by without changing much in my life for this year. I haven’t moved forward with some goals I set for myself and some projects are still in the same place as they were in 2014. But I realized that Easter is kind of like New Year’s day.
Our Easter Sunday services began in darkness. A video is playing with “Fanfare for the Common Man” as the background music, and slowly light begins to come into the sanctuary. You see the Easter banners, the white, linen cloth on the altar, the beautiful flowers, new candles and the choir begins to sing. Light comes out of the darkness and everything is fresh, clean and new.
Today, Easter Sunday, is another fresh start. It is a celebration! A reminder to all of us that Jesus paid a huge price for our sins. That we are blessed to have another day to spread the Good News and love those around us.
Actually every day we wake up with breath in our lungs is a fresh start because God’s mercies are new every morning.
No more settling for what hasn’t happened!
Praise for the opportunity of things to come!
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10
