Today was a rough day. And it’s the rough days when the enemy love to mess with you.
The enemy (devil, satan, lucifer, etc.) is just evil. But often times it’s really difficult to see the devil in action. Maybe you think the devil is red with horns and green eyes. Some believe the devil is anyone who holds public office or maybe is even a televangelist. The joke in our home is that every time we pass one of those “Pay Day Loan” stores we call out the name of the store and my 18 year old and 8 year old say “DEBIL”! because those place are truly from the devil:) But what I have seen in my life is that the devil, evil can be in a beautiful package with a great big bow. Evil can look as innocent as an elderly woman.
I was busy all day with work. I had made a commitment to go to a party tonight and I was really not in the mood. I only knew one person who was going and I just didn’t have my attitude in the right place. My husband pushed me to go knowing the day I had…..”Have fun!” He said.
“I’ll be home within the hour,” I said.
He replied, “No you won’t.”
He was right. At the end of the evening I was talking to my one friend at the party and a woman came over and joined our conversation. She overheard us talking about my son’s port. Come to find out she was in town helping care for her father as he is undergoing radiation and chemo and just happens to have a port that is acting up. We started talking some more and I found out she now lives in Houston where I did! We had several things in common but most importantly we had a connection that revolved around our loved ones and their health.
She needed a little encouragement and I just “happened” to be there to tell her what I knew.
“Hey devil! Don’t mess with me…..God has my back! Despite the yuck you put in my day it ended better than I dreamed.”
And that is no coincidence.
