This afternoon the weather was absolutely perfect. 68 degrees with a slight, cool breeze with a crystal, blue sky. It’s the kind of afternoon that New Mexico is famous for. It just doesn’t get better than it was today.
Sunday’s after church for the pastor and his/her family is a great time to veg out and take catnaps but today it would have been a crime. We went for a walk in the Bosque. The trails wind through the trees along the Rio Grande and some go out directly to the water. We walked, threw stones in the river, took pictures and read about the different animals that inhabit the area.
My “Christian” was the leader for the afternoon and as I was walking behind him it dawned on me that a year ago he was still in his wheelchair. Today he went on a 3 mile nature walk without issue.
God is good. I mean God is so incredibly good! I will admit that the past seven months have been nice and quiet…almost boring and routine but I failed to recognize a blessing that I am taking for granted.
“The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.” Psalm 126:3
The fact that my Christian is walking again is a huge blessing in our lives. And when we have those amazing blessings that are more than we can almost bear we can sometimes forget about the little things.
If life is routine and all is well what do your blessings look like?
If life is rough and filled with doubt what do your blessings look like?
- A perfect cup of coffee.
- A smile from a stranger.
- Being thanked.
- Pizza.
- Clear nail polish.
- Netflix.
- A call from a friend.
I think you get the idea. We are surrounded by blessings when life is going well and we are not paying attention and when life is extremely yucky.
This week I am going to be more aware of the little things. I hope you consider doing the same.
Today I Am Thankful For:
- Strawberries
- t-shirts
- Catching up with a friend
- Leading a Bible study
- Rearranging furniture
