48th

I am one incredibly blessed woman.  This past weekend I celebrated my 48th birthday.  I have always felt loved by my “men” (my hubby and two sons), but there was just something extra special about this birthday.  I was treated like a queen and showered with gifts.  My oldest came home from college and our “favorite” aunt was in town for a visit.  It was perfect.  I spent Saturday at a craft retreat and preached two services on Sunday.  It was definitely a weekend filled with some of my favorite things.

As I prepare for the week ahead, I am hoping that I can hold on to the joy of this weekend.  My week will be filled with a business trip to Chicago.  I’ll be meeting up with the team that I am part of…it’s a rare occasion as we are spread across the country.  The bittersweet part of this meeting is that we will be saying goodbye to our fearless leader, “JC,” as she has accepted a promotion.  I am thrilled for her, but sad to see her go.

“JC” is a woman who I would truly describe as fearless.  She is mighty in her work, gets results, and pushes you to do things that you don’t even realize you have within yourself.  And the most beautiful thing about her is her heart. She may come across as a little gruff to those who don’t really know her, but I know her well.  I know that everything she does is filled with passion.  I am going to miss her. She’s my friend

Change is never fun.  Sometimes it’s necessary, possibly unwanted, but definitely inevitable.   I look forward to meeting our new leader but do have a little anxiety.  I know that worry will not help matters and I am definitely praying through this transition.  Not just for myself, but for everyone involved.

Just in case this week is filled with more anxiety than I care to allow in my heart, I am going to pull out a moment of joy from this weekend.  I will pull out blessing after blessing after blessing and give thanks to God for whatever comes next.  Nothing is going to steal my joy.

Today I Am Thankful For:

  1. Cold birthday cake
  2. my friend “JC”
  3. Ice cold water
  4. Perfume
  5. Rainy days
