For the first time in several years I traveled to an out of town meeting, alone, without any worry about what may or may not happen at home. My “Christian’s” health is better than ever and our world has been pretty “boring” and it has been wonderful!
I met several of my colleagues at the Hemophilia Federation of America’s Annual Symposium and had the chance to see several old friends in the bleeding disorders community that I have not seen in quite some time (and I also made some new ones). I was also invited to speak at the conference and it was a wonderful experience. To be in the position to share in a national forum was just phenomenal.
But there was something that happened while I was on this trip…I laughed like I haven’t laughed in a very, long time.
I was able to spend some great time with a former colleague, turned “out of town bestie” and it was exactly what I needed. My buddy Janell and I are close in age and have young boys, so we definitely speak the same language…..Legos, Ninjago, Chima, and video games!
We text regularly, share a great love for 80’s music (because is there any other decade as wonderful?) and are just passionate about our families and friends. And boy can we laugh! Our selfie taking needs some work but whatever we end up doing it is always a fantastic time 🙂 We always joke that if we lived closer our husbands would never see us!
I hope you all have a Janell in your life.
Someone who you can call any time, day or night for a shoulder to cry on or a piece of advice.
Someone who will celebrate your joys and pray when things are pretty yucky.
Someone who doesn’t take things too seriously and enjoys each moment just as it come.
So tonight I think of the past few days and my heart is warm and I can’t stop smiling 🙂 And this scripture comes to mind…
“Every time you cross my mind, I break out in exclamations of thanks to God. Each exclamation is a trigger to prayer. I find myself praying for you with a glad heart. I am so pleased that you have continued on in this with us, believing and proclaiming God’s Message, from the day you heard it right up to the present. There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears.” Philippians 3:3-6 (MSG)
