Today is the day that many people look forward to. It is the day when we get a chance to start fresh. We have a clean slate. It’s almost magical for many. Everything is new and filled with hope with the memories and messiness of the previous year gone.
I don’t know if the memories and messiness are every really gone, but I sure do like the idea of moving forward.
And resolutions. Oh yes, let’s not forget the list of New Year’s Resolutions. You know, the list of things you plan to do and before January is over you have already messed up and figure, why bother? Some people put their minds to it and carry out their resolutions for the year and see fantastic improvements in their lives and to that I say “Huzzah”! (or at least my husband would say that) 🙂
I jumped on the “One Word” bandwagon several years ago and have found that focusing on a word throughout the year has challenged me. This year I knew my word without any doubt. I have chosen the word “enough.”
It’s a word that speaks to me on many different levels and I look forward to sharing with you about my one word journey throughout the year.
Something comes to my heart as the year begins that I completely believe.
If we wake up with breath in our lungs and a new day in front of us (not just January 1st), maybe we should approach the day as if it was a New Year’s….a new day…a day that God has blessed us with because it’s definitely another day more than we deserve. We can start a new habit, have a new perspective, and a new outlook on life every day of the year.
God’s mercies are new every morning! Not just January 1st.
“God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out, his merciful love couldn’t have dried up. They’re created new every morning. How great your faithfulness! I’m sticking with God (I say it over and over). He’s all I’ve got left.” Lamentations 3:22-24 (MSG)
