I am really bad about letting “life” get in the way of some of the things I want to do. My main responsibilities are to be a mom to my boys, a wife to my husband and to be a responsible and trustworthy employee/colleague. But if that is all I do, then I know I will burn out.
How many times have you been asked, “What do you do to take care of yourself?” I have honestly been able to answer that I am riding horses on Saturday mornings. Riding has filled a desire deep in my soul…but what I have realized is that there are so many other things that I need and want to do and I need to figure out how to prioritize my time.
The problem is that I am not prioritizing my time with Jesus. I am not putting my relationship with Him first in my life. I am really good about teaching and encouraging others to do this but I find that I don’t take my own advice.
I have big dreams…to see my ministry take off, to work on a book project with my husband, for my career to truly be phenomenal, to see my little boy’s health challenges improve…in order for these things to happen I need to take care of myself by eating right and moving everyday, but most importantly I need to devote a portion of my day to Jesus. It may look different everyday but I need to find that time to spent with the One who has gotten me to this point in my life.
Dedicating daily time to strengthen my relationship with Christ is crucial to my life.
Do you need to step out in faith and pledge a portion of your day to Christ? It’s never too late.
“Here’s what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace.” Matthew 6:6 (MSG)
