Several years ago, I started my Master’s degree at Iliff Theological Seminary. I was working full-time, my husband was at his first appointment, my oldest son was in middle school, and my mighty, warrior Caeleb was only three. I wanted to start my degree so badly, but it seemed that life kept getting in the way. As hard as I tried, I was fighting to get things done. Every assignment was a struggle, not just with time, but the doubt that riddled me kept me from being successful. What I had wanted to do was becoming a burden. But when my mighty, warrior began to have complications with his hemophilia, I knew that the time was meant for my family and not for school.
Here I am, eight years later, in a very different position. I am self-employed, my warrior is in middle school and his health is fantastic, and I have completed my first week back at Iliff and have completed every assignment, read all of the readings, and doubt is no where to be found.
We all have those times when we try to fit those square pegs into round holes. We desperately want something to work and we keep pounding that square peg to death! If we are lucky, we realize that it is just not going to fit and we wait for the next, right thing to happen. It’s amazing what happens when we listen to that still, small voice that leads us to the best of what God has in store for our lives.
